Hypertextuality provides a comprehensive system of analyzing any relationship between literary texts. It aims to show how a twentiethcentury literary work like Jean Rhys's Wide Sargasso Sea can be related to and a parody of Charlotte Bronte's nineteenthcentury novel Jane Eyre.
