Chapman (18911965), a keen photographer and cyclist, began taking photographs at the age of sixteen. Most likely selftaught, he was skilled with the camera and had an instinctive eye for capturing beauty in a single shot. As Chapman cycled the Irish countryside, he photographed a range of subjects from boats and trains to landscapes and buildings, as well as his family, friends and fellow cyclists. This neverbeforepublished selection of his extraordinary photographs also includes historic events such as the burning Dublin's Custom House.
