Esta investigacin trata sobre el diseo y construccin de un robot mvil de arquitectura abierta equipado con un telmetro lser 2D montado sobre un sistema de giro inclinacin y sus aplicaciones. Los datos obtenidos de los sensores del robot son empleados principalmente para abordar dos problemas: (1) la localizacin local y construccin de mapas 2D de forma simultnea (SLAM), y (2) la reconstruccin y modelado tridimensional de ambientes reales. En la solucin del SLAM se utiliza un mtodo robusto de optimizacin no lineal para estimar la posicin y orientacin del robot. La reconstruccin 3D emplea el sistema de giro inclinacin y el telmetro para recolectar datos tridimensionales de ambientes interiores estructurados que posteriormente son modelados con OpenGL.
