1m fiinften J ahrbuch der Arbeitsgemeinschaft fiir Friedensund Konfliktforschung (AFK) werden Arbeiten publiziert, die beim 5. wissenschaftliche, n Kolloquium der AFK 'Riistung und Militar in der BRD' diskutiert wurden. Zwei Monate nach diesem Kolloquium wurde die Friedensforschung in zeitlichem Zusammenhang mit der Ehrung Gustav Heinemanns durch die Deutsche Gesellschaft fiir Friedens und Konfliktforschung in einer dem Ablauf und der Methode nach denkwiirdigen Kampagne zum ersten Mal emsthaft pauschal angegriffen. Die Ergebnisse und Me thoden der Friedensforschung wurden dabei nicht wissenschaftlich, sondem poli tisch in Frage gestellt, d. h. es wurde gefordert, ihr den ohnehin nicht sehr weit geoffneten Geldhahn abzudrehen. Diese Kampagne wurde im Laufe des Jahres 1975 fortgesetzt. Da eine Offentliche Auseinandersetzung dieses AusmaBes notwendig zu immer neuen Anfragen nach den Fakten, der Substanz der Vorwiirfeund den Hin tergriinden fiihrt, schien es sinnvoll, den Beitragen zum eigentlichen Thema dieses Bandes eine Dokumentation und Wiirdigung dieser Kampagne von Klaus Horn und Reiner Steinweg voranzustellen. Darin werden die Methoden und Mechanismen der moralischen Diffamierung der Friedensforschung auf der Basis verzerrt oder falsch wiedergegebener Fakten untersucht und SchluBfolgerungen fiir das Verhalten der Friedensforscher untereinander gezogen, die in jedem Fall vermeiden sollten, aus Angst vor der Kritik von augen auf die wissenschaftliche Selbstkritik zu verzichten. Die Wahl des Themas 'Riistung und Militar in der BRD' fUr Kolloquium und Jahrbuch beruhte auf mehreren Griinden.
