Sabio o Erudito: El Maestro de las Escuelas Normales. Un Estudio Histrico 1963 1978, es un trabajo histrico educativo, que da cuenta del rol de los maestros de stas instituciones en el perodo de estudio, a partir de la identificacin de polticas, modelos y reformas del sistema de formacin de maestros para los primeros niveles de la educacin colombiana. Este estudio permite reconocer la forma como les correspondi a los maestros acomodarse a las propuestas de transformacin y legislacin que se plantearon desde las directrices educativas impuestas como resultado de un acomodamiento a las polticas internacionales en las dcadas de 1960 y 1970; as mismo, posibilita comprender la situacin vivida por el maestro de las Escuelas Normales en cuanto a la relacin con la comunidad educativa y con la sociedad de su entorno, el nivel de formacin y el reconocimiento econmico de su labor. En otras palabras, su desempeo y su rol, en una poca marcada por pactos polticos y por la proliferacin de grupos de izquierda y manifestaciones culturales, que afectaron de una u otra manera la vida de estas instituciones y de sus maestros, aunque ellos no se hayan visto inmersos directamente
