San Rafael, Camba Town is an intimate portrayal of the people and events that contribute to the fabric of life in a small, peasant community in Bolivia. In a highly readable style, the author recounts her experiences as a young Peace Corps volunteer working in this isolated community during the 1960s. Stearman begins by describing the patterns of daily activities of the individuals she came to know well as friends and neighbors.
