In 1967, During My Second Year Of Medical College, My Interest In Sanatan Began With A Line From The German Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer.I Saw A Shiva Idol And Learned About It, As Mentioned In This Book. Under The Influence Of Western Thought, I Too Considered Idol Worship A Conservative Mindset.I Thought That These Beliefs That Have Been Prevalent For Thousands Of Years, Which People Have Dismissed As Superstitions,CouldnT Be Meaningless, Like Not Getting A Haircut On Tuesdays To Fear HanumanS Displeasure, Or Not Buying Iron On Saturdays To Avoid The Wrath Of Shanidev.I Started Thinking About All This. It Seems These Customs Were Created To Give Barbers And Blacksmiths A Day Off.When I Saw Stale Food Served At Home For The Worship Of Shitala Mata In March, I Felt That This Message Was Being Given To Society To Stop Eating Stale Food As Soon As Summer Begins. Then I Set Out On A Journey To Sanatan. I Shared My Thoughts On Beliefs Often Called Superstitions And Engaged In Discussions, Receiving Positive Responses. I DonT Claim My Views To Be 100% Correct, But I Can Confidently Say That My Scientific Background In Medical Knowledge Has Certainly Enabled Me To Understand Ancient Practices.
