LatinoBevlkerung in den USA gegenber der schwarzen Bevlkerung.1 Hispanics und Chicanos stellen demnach eine Bevlkerungsgruppe in den USA dar, die sich stetig ausbreitet und deren Einfluss stndig zunimmt. Dies ist auch auf kultureller Ebene nachzuweisen, wie folgendes Beispiel zeigen wird. Sandra Cisneros Familie stammt aus Mexiko, sie ist eine Chicana und avancierte whrend der vergangenen 22 Jahre, seit dem Erscheinen ihres Erfolgsromans The House on Mango Street2 1984, zu einer der bekanntesten ChicanaAutorinnen der Vereinigten Staaten. Mittlerweile erfreut sie sich internationaler Berhmtheit und reiht sich in eine Gruppe von AutorInnen hispanischer Abstammung ein, deren Einfluss stetig zunimmt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Cisneros Entwicklung darzustellen und ihren Einfluss auf die ChicanoGemeinde in den USA herauszuarbeiten. Sandra Cisneros ist keine typische Exilautorin. Sie wird weder politisch verfolgt noch suchte sie einen anderen Ort zur Entfaltung ihrer knstlerischen Fhigkeiten. Vielmehr ist sie gefangen zwischen zwei Kulturen, der mexikanischen und der amerikanischen. Trotzdem kann man sie als Exilautorin der zweiten Generation bezeichnen, da ihre Vorfahren mexikanische Einwanderer sind. In dieser Arbeit steht zu Beginn Cisneros Biografie, welche die Grundlage fr die folgenden Abschnitte bildet.
