Insgesamt verfasste Schiller 27 Briefe und verffentlichte diese 1795 unter dem Titel ber die sthetische Erziehung des Menschen in den Horen, eine von ihm herausgegebene Zeitschrift. Schillers Ausfhrungen hinsichtlich einer sthetischen Erziehung luten einen klaren Wendepunkt in der Philosophie ein. Die Kunst erfllt nicht mehr nur den Selbstzweck just Kunst zu sein, sondern wird bei Schiller zu einem Instrument welches Vernderungen ermglicht. So fhrt laut Schiller der Weg zur Freiheit ber die sthetik und nur diese vermag es den zgellosen Notstaat in einen moralischen Vernunftstaat zu wandeln. Schiller fhrt darber hinaus den Begriff des Humankapitals ein; ein fr folgende Generationen bedeutungsvoller Ansatz. Um diesen Wendepunkt in einen pdagogischhistorischen Kontext einzubetten, liegt der groe Schwerpunkt von Kapitel I auf der historischen Entwicklung der Erziehung und wird diese in groben Zgen darstellen. Kapitel II wird die 27 Briefe fr den Leser zusammenfassen und in ihren Grundzgen interpretieren. Kapitel III setzt die Briefe in den damaligen historischen Kontext der franzsischen Revolution, darber hinaus beleuchtet es die verschiedenen Aspekte hinsichtlich der von Schiller geprgten Termini Vernunftstaat, Naturstaat und sthetik. Danach folgt ein kleiner Exkurs zu Kant, der Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen Schiller und Kant aufzeichnen soll. Inwiefern Schillers Theorie heute, zwei Jahrhunderte spter, noch eine Rolle spielen kann, wird das persnliche Schlusswort errtern.
