The central purpose of this book is to assist policy makers on matters pertaining public schools financial management. The impetus to write this book was fueled by the realization that most school management committees (SMCs)had being given the mandate to implement the Free primary Education Funds (FPE)in Kenya prior to preparing them for this added responsibility. The study has shown that most SMCs have received very little training if any on financial management. This has resulted to misappropriation of funds meant for FPE in Kenyan primary schools. It has also been established that there are funds just lying in accounts due to lack of adequate knowledge on the use of FPE funds. This book therefore emphasizes the need for SMCs to undergo training on school financial management as part of ensuring the success of free primary education in Kenya and also to achieve Millennium Development Goals before 2015.
