This is the eighth and final volume of the largescale historiographic manual on 18th century linguistics. All told, it contains some 1,600 articles on the authors who produced publications of relevance to the study of language in Germanspeaking countries between 1700 and 1800. The articles consist of a biography, a description of the authors' works, and a bibliography. The main emphasis in the articles is on the description of the authors' publications. Volume 8 closes with an index linguarum indicating the textual references for about 100 designations of languages and dialects.
