Product Description Der von dieser Arbeit vorgeschlagene Bildbegriff des Wappens basiert auf einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Analyse der Materialitt und Medialitt des heraldischen Ornaments. Er rekonstruiert einen Gegenstand, dem im Gegensatz zu seiner gelufigen Lesart als Zeichen privilegierter Herkunft eine Vielschichtigkeit rckerstattet wird. Die Botschaft des heraldischen Ornaments ist keinesfalls transparent. Wie die Analyse seiner rhetorischen Qualitt belegt, ist der Duktus des Geteilten und Zerstckten sowie der verwechselten Tingierung und der asymmetrischen Symmetrie Element eines diskursiven Verfahrens, das auch mittelalterlichen Krperkonzeptionen, den Vorstellungen von Karnevaleskem und Gegenhfischem und den poetologischen Reflexionsmustern des hfischen Romans zugrunde liegt. Als intermediale Grenzgnger zwischen Maske und Schrift befindet sich der heraldische Ornamentmodus an den Rndern der Zeichenordnung, wo ber Lesbarkeit und Unlesbarkeit verhandelt wird. In seinen heterogenen Semiosen, die tendenziell in Widerspruch stehen zu den offiziellen Verlautbarungen hfischer Idealitt, ist die Spur des Fremden noch nicht verwischt.
