This is a collection of historical anecdotes based on the authors Bicycle Accident column in The Herald. Exploring the byways of Scottish history, this book answers questions such as why did medieval Scots dance the funky salmon, and what was Butcher Cumberlands most embarrassing moment.

I really enjoyed reading 'Scotching the Myths'. It presents Scottish history in a way that's engaging and accessible. The alternative viewpoint made me rethink some things I thought I knew! Perfect for history buffs or anyone curious about Scotland.

Interesting, but a bit dense at times
The book definitely has some fascinating insights into Scottish history, but I found some parts a little hard to get through. It’s well-researched, which is great, but I wish it flowed better in some sections. Still, worth a read if you're interested in alternative histories.
