This book provides Scottish genealogical information for families connected to the freemen Edinburgh goldsmiths. Entries span a period of more than 500 yrs from c. 1490 to the present and are organized into a series of 214 family trees. Significant ancestral locales are displayed in maps, diagrams and photos. Indexes of goldsmiths are provided by surname, chronology of freedom dates and family tree.

I picked up 'Scotland’s Families and the Edinburgh Goldsmiths' to learn more about my ancestry, and it did not disappoint! The detailed accounts and histories kept me engaged, and I found the stories behind the goldsmiths fascinating. Definitely a must-have for anyone interested in Scottish history!

Disappointed with the Quality
I was really looking forward to this book, but it arrived with a few damaged pages and the cover was scuffed. The content seems great, but the quality control on the copy I got was lacking. I expected better for the price.

Interesting but Hard to Follow
This book has some incredible insights into Edinburgh’s goldsmiths, but I found it a bit tricky to follow at times. Some sections felt dense and could use clearer organization. Still, it’s a solid read if you’re patient with it.
