La Formacin Anacleto (tope de Grupo Neuqun) y la Formacin Allen (base de Grupo Malarge) son parte del relleno sedimentario en la etapa de antepas de la Cuenca Neuquina durante el Cretcico Superior. Hasta el momento la totalidad de las Formaciones que integran el Grupo Neuqun fueron definidas como depsitos continentales. El Grupo Malarge, presenta el registro de ambientes marinos litorales que evidencian la primera Ingresin de Ocano Atlntico a la cuenca durante el Maastrichtiano. El estudio de detalle de los depsitos sedimentarios de las Formaciones Anacleto y Allen mediante la definicin de litofacies y elementos arquitecturales permiti interpretar los distintos paleoambientes sedimentarios y realizar una reconstruccin paleoambietal. En este libro se aborda la relacin de los controles eustticos y tectnicos asociados con las variaciones en la acomodacin, as como tambin el cambio desde un ambiente netamente continental (Sistema fluvial de alta sinuosidad) a un ambiente de transicin (Sistema esturico) que afect el tope del Grupo Neuqun modificando las caractersticas definidas hasta el momento para el mismo.
