La segmentacin laboral, atendiendo al sexo de los trabajadores, es un fenmeno relevante en el mercado de trabajo, el cual necesita especial atencin si queremos alcanzar una sociedad igualitaria, eficiente y justa. En esta investigacin se ha analizado la evolucin de la segregacin laboral por razn de sexo en Espaa durante el periodo 19962008. Para ello, se han utilizado los datos de la Clasificacin Nacional de Ocupaciones y de la Clasificacin Nacional de Actividades Econmicas ofrecidos por la Encuesta de Poblacin Activa (EPA) del Instituto Nacional de Estadstica (INE), analizados a travs de diversos ndices de segregacin. Los resultados han sido llamativos, ya que, a priori, factores como el hecho constatado de la mayor incorporacin femenina en el mercado de trabajo, junto con su mayor cualificacin y su permanencia en el tiempo como parte de la poblacin activa, hacan pensar que se estaba constituyendo un verdadero paso hacia la paridad ocupacional en nuestro mercado laboral. Sin embargo, los resultados del anlisis emprico reflejan que esta desigualdad, pese a dichos cambios, va en aumento ao tras ao.
