Mit 32 Jahren ist eine Entwicklung nicht abgeschlossen. Der Strich, den ich jetzt unter meine Weltanschauung setzen mu, mu noch nicht definitiv sein. Allein etwas ist fertig in mir und will hinausgestellt sein, will als ein anderes neben mir stehen. Ich mu es auf die Arme nehmen, wie die Mutter das Kind, das sie geboren hat. Gut! ich wollte mein Buch schreiben und richtete mein Leben darnach ein. In solchen Zeiten mssen wir unser Leben so ordnen, wie es Frauen tun, die guter Hoffnung sind und wissen, da sie nun nicht mehr nur fr sich allein leben. Der Hochsommer ist eine gnstige Jahreszeit. Die Strae vor meinen Fenstern ist still und voll grellgelben Sonnenscheins. Hunde liegen auf den heien Steinen, strecken alle Viere von sich und schlafen. Kinder sitzen auf den Schwellen der Haustre, die Hnde um die nackten Beine geschlungen und sind in der Hitze auch still und schlfrig geworden. Die wenigen Passanten drcken sich die schmalen Schattenstreifen an den Dachvorsprngen entlang. Dieser unertrglich flimmernden Welt mit ihrem heien, unreinen Atem seh' ich es sofort an, da ich in ihr nichts zu versumen habe. Ich ziehe die gelben Vorhnge vor mein Fenster, das gibt eine angenehme goldige Dmmerung. Hie und da sticht durch eine Spalte ein scharfer, blanker Sonnenstrahl in die Dmmerung und in diesem Sonnenstrahl kreisen einige Fliegen brummend und unermdlich umeinander.
