Review I love this book. It's a Christian alternative to "Harry Potter." Andrea Smith, age 17I loved "Selah." Lonna put me right there on the mountain. I lived the adventure. Robyn Denton, mother of teenagersI read "Selah" in one day (even during lunch at school). I loved it. Ellen Cobery, age 13It's one of the best books I've ever readvery exciting. Chelsea Smith, age 13Lonna sounds a lot like Madeline L'Engle, a writer I grew up with. Carl Rafala, author of Product Description Selah is a slavegirl who fetches water from a well. She sees the distant mountains and imagines things she has never knownlike trees, stars, lakes, and snow. Her Master Regan and The Craft have kept nature from the valleys, damning rivers and turning all to desert. They weave their material spells upon the slaves, and nothing ever changes. Then, one day, Regan summons Selah to serve him at a banquet. As she fills a goblet, a stranger in a hooded cloak speaks to her and gives her one unmelted snowflake. That very night, the stranger named Micah leads Selah outside the Keep and across the valley, to meet a band of travelers. They journey through hills, moors, and highlands to Mountain Gate. Selah finds beauty, music, and love in the mountains. Regan and his soldiers follow, capture Selah, and imprison her again. She must face loneliness and The Craft to reunite with Micah and journey to the Summit. From the Publisher This is Lonna's Christian alternative to "Harry Potter." Jeff Schwaner, GreatUnpublished.com From the Author I grew up reading fantasy novels. I especially loved J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia." I'm sure you will see the influence of these great books on my own work. "Selah of the Summit" is my Christian alternative to "Harry Potter" (which I have read and studiedas well as J.K. Rowling's biography). Unlike "Harry Potter," my story is set outdoors, in various zones of the mountains. My main character is a girl. And I show "The Craft" as something that enslaves people. Selah escapes the hot valley and The Craft and journeys to freedom in the mountains. There she finds love and a home, but she doesn't stayshe returns to the valley to free other slaves. I live in the California mountains, and I poured my love of the moutains and their beauty into this book. My gift is to bring you to the heights with meto the pine trees, the cool wind, and the stars. I hope you enjoy "Selah" as much as I enjoyed writing it. About the Author Lonna Lisa Williams has been writing since she was four years old, after her father died, when her mother collected the poems she spoke. In love with words, Lonna wrote childhood stories and plays, eventually publishing novels. "Like a Tree Planted" is science fiction, and "Selah of the Summit" is fantasy. "Crossing the Chemo Room," "I Saw You in the Moon," and "Fire and Ice" tell her true "Survival Stories." She got her Master's degree in English at San Diego State University and has published poems, essays, and articles in various magazines and newspapers. A journalist and photographer, Lonna enjoys making Youtube videos (LonnaLisaWilliams' Channel). She posts new photos and writing on Facebook and her website, www.lonnawilliams.com. After losing her childhood family, surviving cancer, almost dying in a car accident, and watching her family and life in California burn up after a bitter divorce, Lonna found a new life teaching English overseas. Her four children live in California, and she visits them when she can. Her motto is that Christ's light can shine in the darkest places, and that after death comes resurrection.
