A celebrated poet of mid twentieth century America, Sextons impressive body of work continues to be widely read and debated by literary scholars and cultural critics alike. Her poetry explored the many paradoxes within human behavior and motivation.

The collection features some powerful poems, but I found many of them a bit too dark for my taste. I appreciate the craft but was hoping for a more uplifting selection. It’s still a solid work, just not what I was looking for right now.

I adore Anne Sexton’s poetry, and this selected poems edition is great. However, the packaging was a bit damaged when it arrived, which was disappointing. Luckily, the book itself is in good condition! Just wish it had traveled better.

Anne Sexton’s Selected Poems is beautifully crafted, but I found some of the themes pretty heavy. It's not the light read I was looking for at the moment. The collection is definitely impressive if you're ready for an emotional journey. Not for everyone, though!
