Die vorliegende Arbeit bietet eine alternative Methode, an die literarische bersetzung heranzugehen. Es wird vorgeschlagen, semantische Figuren organisierte Bedeutungseinheiten hheren Grades komparativ zu untersuchen, und zwar um festzustellen, wie sie durch die Wortwahl des bersetzers nuanciert, variiert und neu angeordnet werden bzw. werden knnen. Die Methode ist hauptschlich fr die Untersuchung des Werkes eines Autors konzipiert worden, denn nur in diesem Fall knnen semantische Figuren partiell in ihrer Redundanz erfasst werden, wenn sie in mehreren Texten des Autors aufgegriffen oder neu variiert werden. Dies wird am Korpus der ausgewhlten Werke von Gnter Grass in polnischer und englischer bersetzung prsentiert. Die Einsicht in die Handhabung der semantischen Figuren ermglicht somit zugleich, das Spielerische an der bersetzung zu zeigen. Das Spiel wird in der intuitiven Bedeutung des Wortes aufgefasst; es meint sowohl den Unterhaltungsevent, der nach bestimmten, zeitlich variablen Regeln ausgetragen wird, als auch die Ausdrucksweise des nativen Spielinstinkts des Homo ludens, der bewusst oder unbewusst Befriedigung als einzigen Zweck verfolgt, an jeglicher pragmatischer Zielsetzung vorbei.
