Los objetivos en esta investigacin fueron analizar los efectos de aptitud combinatoria general y especfica y explorar el tipo de accin gnica de algunos caracteres agronmicos y de calidad fisiolgica de la semilla de maz. Se realizaron anlisis diallicos individuales para cada experimento y un anlisis combinado con los 10 materiales coincidentes. Se identificaron las lneas TL155, B41, T45 y CML144 como las mejores para ACG, tanto en las variables agronmicas como fisiolgicas. Para la ACE en el anlisis combinado se identificaron las cruzas: 4 x 8 (B41 x CML144), 1 x 5 (T45 x CLQ6203) y 2 x 7 (T44 x CML142) como las ms sobresalientes con los mayores valores estimados de ACE para rendimiento de grano 1.08, 0.95 y 0.76 respectivamente y las cruzas 4 x 10 (B41 x CML176) y 2 x 6 (T44 x CML141) como las ms sobresalientes con los valores ms altos estimados de ACE en el vigor de 16.27 y 8.02. El anlisis combinado mostr que el tipo de accin gnica aditiva fue la que predomin en los caracteres agronmicos y fisiolgicos estudiados, as como para todas las variables en los anlisis individuales.
