Heutzutage leiden viele Kinder unter einer eingeschrnkten Bewegungskultur. Der Mangel an Bewegungsmglichkeiten sowie das daraus resultierende Defizit an Sinneswahrnehmungen und Erfahrungsgelegenheiten kann zu Verhaltensaufflligkeiten fhren. Deshalb versuchen immer mehr Eltern, in der scheinbar endlosen Spirale von Therapieangeboten Hilfe fr ihre Kinder zu finden. Es stellt sich die Frage, ob man dabei wieder auf einen Therapieansatz wie den der Sensorischen Integration nach A. Jean Ayres zurckkommt welcher Bewegung frdert, damit die Sinne anspricht und eine Wahrnehmungsfrderung mit angemessenem Verhalten zum Ziel hat und ob sich dieser insbesondere auch fr Kinder und Jugendliche mit dem Frderschwerpunkt geistige Entwicklung eignet. Denn diese Kinder bringen meist von Geburt an schlechtere Voraussetzungen fr eine gesunde Wahnehmung mit und bedrfen einer besonderen Frderung. Deshalb werden in diesem Buch auf der Grundlage eines Wahrnehmungsverstndnisses verschiedene Aspekte der SITherapie (auch) aus heilpdagogischer Perspektive kritisch beleuchtet.
