Bereits vor 70 Jahren wurde dem sogenannten Judenspanischen der Sprachtod vorausgesagt, aber bis heute hat sich die sudosteuropaische Varietat als Haussprache der Sepharden erhalten. Durch moderne Kommunikationsmoglichkeiten(Internet) sind der bislang nicht durch eine Norm standardisierten Sprache neue Anwendungsfelder erwachsen, und in einerphonematischen Schreibweise, die unabhangig vom Standardspanischen entwickelt wurde, tauschen die Muttersprachler Erinnerungen und Eindrucke aus.Armin Hetzer legt den Schwerpunkt auf diese zeitgenossische Varietat, zieht aber auch altere Mundartaufzeichnungen zum Vergleich heran. Mit einem Wortschatz von etwa 1300 Lexemen wird in den verschriftlichten Gebrauch eingefuhrt, wobei den durch Sprachkontakt entstandenen Merkmalen, die den Abstand zum Standardspanischen bewirken, besondere Aufmerksamkeitzuteil wird.
