Setting Standards of Patient Care presents a comprehensive Model for the development and implementation of nursing standards hospitalwide or unit specific. It emphasizes organization, methodology, terminology and style in an attempt to 'standardize' the way to write standards. It is beneficial as a guide to developing standards where none exist or as a barometer to measure current standards. The book is directed into five units which progress sequentially through the Model, each unit building upon the previous units. The units include Nursing Standards, Structure Standards, Process Standards, Outcome Standards, and Standards Developement. In addition, a sample unit standards manual is included.
