In 1598, Lady Anne Clifford wrote a letter to her father that featured a beautifully painted border. Inspired by that Shakespearianera design, Jane Nicholas has created her own embroidery, stitched on ivory silk satin in stumpwork. I recently bought the Shakespeare's Flowers in Stumpwork kit, and it was a joy to work on. The intricate designs and delicate flowers really brought my stitching to life. I’ve made a few stumpwork pieces before, but this one was by far the most enjoyable!
