This book, 'In the Land of Peace' by Shimazaki, is just what I needed for some quiet moments. The storytelling is so soothing and immersive. It's perfect for winding down after a long day. Really glad I picked it up!

Disappointing ending
I really wanted to love 'In the Land of Peace', but the ending felt rushed and unsatisfying to me. The characters were well-developed, but it didn't wrap up nicely. I was a bit let down after such a promising start.

While I appreciate the depth of 'In the Land of Peace', I found some sections to drag on a bit. Shimazaki's writing is beautiful and rich, but I wished it had a quicker pace. Still, it's worth a read for fans of introspective literature.

I bought this book thinking it would be more action-packed, but it turned out to be a gentle tale. Shimazaki has a way of painting a peaceful landscape with words. It didn't completely meet my expectations, yet it was still a lovely read.
