Richard Hall found out about Shiro when he saw a news story from Japan while at work. He traveled to Aka Island to meet the famous dog and returned to write this book with his wife, Wendy Tokuda. Richard is an indpendent T.V. producer and former news executive with KTVUTV in Oakland. Wendy anchros the 6:00 EYEWITNESS NEWS for KPIXTV in San Francisco. Richard is from Los Angeles and Wendy from Seattle. Today, they live in the Bay area with their two daughters Mikka and Maggie, and their dog Genki. Illustrator and designer, Karen Okasaki Sasaki was born and raised in California and educated at UC Davis and at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. She has illustrated several cookbooks and numerous children's poems and stories.
