Elle donne des articles au Matin dont elle pouse le rdacteur en chef, Henri de Jouvenel, en 1912. Elle divorce en 1924, se remarie en 1935 avec Maurice Goudeket. Membre de lAcadmie royale de Belgique (1936) et de lacadmie Goncourt (1944), elle meurt Paris en 1954. Par son style et par lampleur de son uvre, elle se classe parmi les meilleurs crivains du XXe sicle.
