About the Author Geboren am 27.2.1797 in Netzelkow/Insel Usedom; gestorben am 30.11.1851 in Charlottenburg. Der Sohn eines in der Gesundheitserziehung rigiden Predigers studierte, von Gotthard Ludwig Kosegarten literarisch gefrdert, 18131815 Theologie, Philologie und Philosophie in Greifswald (Abbruch aus finanziellen Grnden), wurde Hauslehrer in ckermnde und 1820 Kantor, Organist und Rektor der Stadtschule Usedom. Die durch Jean Pauls Wrdigung eines Tragdienmanuskripts gewonnene Protektion durch den Oberprsidenten Sack fhrte 1821 zur Berufung als Pfarrer in Koserow auf Usedom, 1826 zur Pfarrstelle in Krummin. 1840 verlieh ihm die Erlanger Fakultt das theologische Doktorat. 1844 bernahm er die Pfarrstelle in Rehwinkel bei Stargard. 1850 legte er nach langjhrigem Streit mit Gemeinde und bergeordneten Behrden sein Amt nieder und bersiedelte nach BerlinCharlottenburg.
