Der Titel dieses Textes lautet Sieben Kpfe Martin Luthers von acht hohen Sachen des christlichen Glaubens'. Die achparn, fursichtigen und weyen herrn burgermeistern und radt der Stadt Lbeck' whlt Cochlus als Adressaten, da sich zu dieser Zeit, unter anderem durch die offensichtlich starke Hand des Stadtrates, die Reformation in Lbeck noch nicht durchgesetzt hat. Zudem besitzt die Stadt eine erhebliche Wichtigkeit und als Hansehauptstadt eine exemplarische Bedeutung' im Norden. Cochlus will mit dem Text untersttzend gegen die reformatorische Bedrohung zur Hand gehen und beweist damit gleichzeitig seine unermesslich genaue und weitlufige Kenntnis von Luthers Lehren und Schriften, indem er durch exakte Zitate, die er geschickt in einem siebenkfficht gesprech' anordnet, seine berzeugung aufzeigt, dass Martin Luther in seinen Entwicklungsstufen verschiedene Meinungen und Ansichten vertrat, die sich zum Teil widersprechen, was einer gewissen Konsequenz entbehrt und damit Luther und seine Botschaften in eine weniger ernstzunehmende Ecke drngt. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit soll dabei sein, die Argumentation der sieben Persnlichkeiten, so wie sie Cochlus darstellt, nachzuvollziehen und wiederzugeben, sowie die darin enthaltene Strategie zur Diffamierung Luthers aufzuzeigen.
