Es wird deutlich gemacht, dass nachhaltige Entwicklung ein mehrdimensionales Konzept ist, welches nicht durch eine einzelne Mazahl fassbar ist. Vielmehr gilt es die diversen Aspekte von Entwicklung zu bercksichtigen um ein vollstndiges Bild zu gewinnen. Im darauf folgenden Abschnitt werden Remittances definiert. Hierzu werden diese in zwei Kategorien, konomisch und sozial, eingeteilt. Es wird verdeutlicht, dass Rckzahlungen mehr sind als nur monetre Leistungen. Diese Multidimensionalitt der Remittances offenbart das Potenzial, welches in ihnen enthalten ist, um nachhaltige Entwicklung zu initiieren, jedoch erschwert diese Komplexitt auch die Messung der Erfolge. Ebenso wird deutlich, dass Remittances auf Mikroebene einen positiven Einfluss haben knnen, sich auf Makroebene jedoch negativ auswirken knnen und vice versa. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit widmet sich dem Fallbeispiel Mexiko, eines der Migrationslnder per se. Begonnen wird mit einer allgemeinen Einfhrung in die geleisteten Remittances nach Mexiko. Darauf folgend wird untersucht, welchen Einfluss Rckzahlungen auf einzelne Haushalte und deren Individuen haben. Hier wird deutlich, dass eine groe Interdependenz zwischen den diversen Formen der Remittances herrscht. Es werden sowohl positive sowie negative Aspekte beleuchtet. Die zweite Analyseebene befasst sich mit Regionen. Besonderes Gewicht wird hier auf die Hometown Associations und das damit verbundene staatliche Programm Iniciativa 3x1' gelegt.
