A biography of Sir James Martin, founder of the MartinBaker Aircraft Company and designer of the ejection seat which has saved the lives of more than 6400 aircrew worldwide. One of the finest engineers of this century, Sir James was a passionate individualist, with little time for government control. The book features Sir James's prototype aircraft, including the MB5 pistonengined fighter, and examines the ejection seat for which he is best remembered. Royalties from the book will be donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
