Este trabajo de investigacin, realizado dentro del Grupo de investigacin de Robtica y Ciberntica de la Universidad Politcnica de Madrid, tiene por objetivo el despliegue y establecimiento de una red de sensores inalmbricos (WSN) en un escenario no accesible (como puede ser un volcn, una zona devastada por una catstrofe natural o un cuerpo celeste) siendo el objetivo de la red la adquisicin de medidas del entorno para su posterior anlisis. Este proyecto est parcialmente enmarcado dentro del proyecto RFWIPE (RadioFrequence Wireless sensor networks for Planetary Exploration) de la Agencia Espacial Europea, donde se aplica el sistema desarrollado a misiones de exploracin planetaria, concretamente en la superficie de Marte. Se ha proporcionado una solucin real para una necesidad existente, abordando la aplicacin en su conjunto, lo que ha implicado la implementacin y puesta en marcha de la red, el diseo y construccin del sistema de despliegue, y el desarrollo de interfaz hombremquina (IHM) que permitiera la integracin y control del conjunto, generando as un sistema completo que ha sido validado y verificado.
