El Ro Chirimayo (Ro Fro en la lengua local) se encuentra ubicado en el sur de la Provincia de Tucumn, Argentina. Es afluente por margen derecha del Ro Gastona. Nace a 1400 msnm, aproximadamente a unos 35 km al oeste de la ciudad de Concepcin. El Ro Chirimayo presenta en el tramo prximo a la ciudad de Concepcin un cauce meandroso, discurriendo por tramos entre barrancas verticales fuertemente erosionables. En este tramo, se produce el desborde del Ro mismo, afectando las viviendas aledaas. Esta situacin ha llevado al diseo de una obra de desvo que lleve las aguas del Ro Chirimayo directamente al Ro Gastona aguas arriba de la ciudad de Concepcin. Siendo el Ro Gastona un ro de mayor capacidad de conduccin, ser capaz de recibir las aguas sin problemas, evitando de esta manera los problemas de desbordes que afectan la Ciudad de Concepcin.
