En este trabajo se presenta un procedimiento de diseo, sntesis y operacin de un sistema de poligeneracin que proporciona de forma conjunta energa y agua desalada a un hotel de la costa Mediterrnea. El procedimiento propuesto utiliza como herramienta a la programacin matemtica (optimizacin) y se divide en dos niveles: un nivel uno de diseo y sntesis preliminar y un nivel dos de diseo y operacin detallado. Los resultados obtenidos indican la viabilidad econmica, y se presenta un ahorro de energa que puede alcanzar valores de hasta 16%; as como una reduccin de gases de efecto invernadero de aproximadamente 600 toneladas de CO2 por ao. Tambin se muestran los costes fsicos y econmicos de cada producto a travs del anlisis termoeconmico.
