Se hace una propuesta de desarrollo productivo de biocombustibles, particularmente bioalcohol y biodiesel, con el objeto de incorporarlos al sistema de transporte nacional. El trabajo demuestra que el desarrollo de un programa de produccin que permita la incorporacin de hasta un 27 % de bioalcohol en las gasolinas, y la sustitucin de un 3 % de diesel por biodiesel, no afecta la seguridad alimentaria del pas, impacta positivamente los costos de los combustibles, y disminuye favorablemente la utilizacin de divisas por importacin de combustibles fsiles. Adicionalmente, flexibiliza el sistema productivo del subsector caa de azcar, e incrementa la productividad y las utilidades obtenidas en el mismo.
