Die Effektivitt des betrachteten Prozesses als solches wird grundstzlich nicht in Frage gestellt; alle Bestrebungen beschrnken sich auf eine Steigerung der Effizienz. Six Sigma trgt nicht nennenswert dazu bei, ein funktional organisiertes Unternehmen in ein prozessorientiertes zu berfhren. Implikationen auf Unternehmenskultur und Organisationsstruktur werden ausgeblendet. Als Lsung gilt die Integration von Six Sigma und Business Process Management (BPM). Wie eine solche Kombination idealerweise auszugestalten ist, wird in der Fachliteratur nicht beschrieben. Es finden sich lediglich rudimentre Anstze, die eine organisationstheoretische Fundierung vermissen lassen und die Rolle der Informationstechnologie nur unzureichend wrdigen. Ziel der vorliegenden Studie ist es, einen Beitrag zu leisten, diese Lcke zu schlieen. Ausgangspunkt der berlegungen soll die bereits vorgestellte Lsungshypothese sein, dass das Potenzial von Six Sigma nur dann ausgeschpft werden kann, wenn die Methode in ein ganzheitliches Business Process Management integriert wird.
