Il prsente une tude des reprsentations sociospatiales et discours sur le dveloppement urbain construit par le Centre dcologie urbaine de Montral (CEUM), une organisation communautaire tablie dans le quartier MiltonParc Montral. Son objectif consiste voir dans quelle mesure un acteur de la socit civile contribue au renouvellement des faons de penser et de faire le dveloppement urbain. Lexamen des rsultats montre comment les reprsentations sociospatiales du dveloppement urbain montralais produites par le CEUM, qui sappuient sur des valeurs lies lcologie sociale et la dmocratie participative, soustendent une vision du dveloppement urbain partir de laquelle sarrime une combinaison de pratiques visant un changement politique et socital de la ville. Le projet urbain du CEUM repose sur l'appropriation des principes du dveloppement durable et sur le droit des citoyens de participer la planification et la gestion urbaines.
