For Introduction to Soil Science, Environmental Science, and Land Use Management courses at the undergraduate level. This text provides a fresh look at soil science. The goal is to help students understand the parts that contribute to the whole soil individual and then appreciate how those parts function together. It begins by assembling the parts (solid, liquid and gas phases) of a soil, followed by explaining the interactions among the parts. Subsequently, genesis, classification, and interpretation of soil properties are explained. The building the pedon* concept introduced in the first edition is continued in this latest edition. This edition also has a western perspective that emphasizes water management. *3dimensional body of soil with lateral dimensions large enough to contain all soil properties.

I was looking forward to this edition, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. The chapters felt scattered, and some sections were confusing. I was hoping for clearer explanations, especially since I’m new to this topic.

Informative and Well-Structured
As a geology student, I found this sixth edition of Soils to be incredibly informative. The layout makes it easy to follow, and the illustrations are top-notch. It really dives into soil composition, which was super helpful for my studies!

Good Content, But Delivery Was Late
I bought this book for my ecology course, and the content is great—very detailed and thorough. However, it took a week longer to arrive than expected, which was a bit frustrating. Just be careful about timing if you're on a deadline.
