Inhaltlich unvernderte Neuauflage. Auf Basis des Epidemiologischen Suchtsurveys 2003 untersucht die Soziologin Jessica A. Dreas reprsentative Daten ber das Rauchverhalten und deren soziale Kontexte. Im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung stehen folgende Fragen: Wie verteilt sich der aktuelle Tabakkonsum zwischen sozialen Schichten und welche Unterschiede zeigen sich dabei in den Konsumgewohnheiten? Weshalb wird in sozial benachteiligten Bevlkerungsgruppen hufiger geraucht? Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen wird auf Grundlage eines handlungstheoretischen Forschungsansatzes eine umfassende statistische Analyse durchgefhrt. Im Ergebnis zeigen sich eindeutige Zusammenhnge zwischen den Aspekten der vertikalen und horizontalen sozialen Ungleichheit einerseits und der Hufigkeit und Strke des Rauchens, der Nikotinabhngigkeit, dem Ausstiegsverhalten und der Passivrauchbelastung andererseits. Fr die in der Analyse identifizierten Risikogruppen leitet die Autorin aus ihren Ergebnissen konkrete Empfehlungen hinsichtlich geeigneter Prventions und Interventionsmanahmen ab.
