In 'The International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences' wird dieser Begriff in ber einhundert verschiedenen Zusammenhngen benutzt, folglich auch in verschiedenen Bedeutungen. Ohne an dieser Stelle eine Analyse der unterschiedlichen Begriffsverwendungen von 'international' vorzu nehmen, stelle ich klar, da ich mit der Bezeichnung internationale Soziologie folgende Vor stellungen verbinde: entweder Kontakte zwischen Soziologen, die in verschiedenen Lndern arbeiten und verschiedenen Nationen angehren, oder Institutionen und Organisationen, die aus Soziologen verschiedener Nationalitt zusammengesetzt sind, oder aber soziologi sche Theorien, deren Inhalt Behauptungen, Hypothesen und Verallgemeinerungen sind, die sich auf Erscheinungen und Prozesse innerhalb verschiedener Nationen beziehen und fr die verschiedenen Lnder, ihre Gesellschaften und Kulturen deskriptive und erklrende Geltung haben.
