Menschen verschiedenster Wissenschaften und Knste haben sich mit dem Zusammenhang von Spiel und Kultur befasst und eigene Theorien aufgestellt. So behauptet Johan Huizinga, dass die Kultur ihren Ursprung im Spiel hat. Er gibt neben dem homo sapiens (der Denker) und dem homo faber (der Arbeitenden), den homo ludens (der Spieler) als kulturschaffenden Mensche an. Andere hingegen stellen die These auf, dass durch kultische Handlungen das Spiel hervortritt. So wurde in den frheren Kulturstufen zum Beispiel einer Puppe als Abbild des Menschen, eine magische Wirkung zugeschrieben. Spter jedoch wurde diese Puppe als Spielzeug verwendet. In dieser Arbeit soll versucht werden auf die Fragestellung ,,Inwieweit beeinflusst das Spiel die kulturelle Entwicklung einer Gesellschaft?" eine Antwort zu geben. Wenn in dieser Arbeit der Begriff Kultur verwendet wird, ist damit immer die menschliche Kultur gemeint. Der Punkt ,,Entwicklung und Begriff der Kultur" wird versuchen eine mglichst passende Definition darzulegen. Im Abschnitt vier ,,Der Zusammenhang von Kultur und Spiel" werden wir uns speziell mit Johan Huizinga auseinandersetzen und versuchen zu zeigen, welchen Einfluss das Spiel auf die Kulturentwicklung hat. Die Quellenlage zu dieser Thematik, ist auf Grund der vielen Wissenschaften die sie beinhaltet, extrem umfangreich.
