Spin The Hound Lost And Found: A Tale Of The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake is a richly illustrated children's book which offers a genuine, though not distressing, account of the catastrophe that destroyed a great American city over a century ago. A friendly, musical and hardworking dog named Spin goes about his fun and busy life the day before the quake. But when the temblor strikes early in the morning of April 18, Spin's owners have to run for their lives, unable to bring him along. Fending for himself, the hound comes to the aid of others; strangers help him too. Together, people and animals make it through overwhelming difficulties none of them will ever forget. Though Spin undergoes trial and turmoil, he ultimately finds home again. Vintage photographs incorporated into some of the vividly colored drawings provide an essential and dramatic historical backdrop. The story is inspired by events that their grandmother told the illustrator and author. It is an upbeat tale of resourcefulness, survival, companionship and optimism. Book design by Philip DiLernia 40+ illustrations
