Mit diesem Band werden die wissenschaftlichen Beitrage der Tagung 'Sprache statt Politik ? Politikwissenschaftliche Semantikund Rhetorikforschung' vor gelegt, die yom 03. 05. April 1989 an der Freien Universitat in Berlin stattfand. Sie wurde von einer adhocGruppe der Deutschen Vereinigung fiir Politische Wissenschaft vorbereitet und veranstaltet. Diese Tagung markiert in gewisser Weise einen Neubeginn in der Beschaftigung der deutschen Politikwissenschaft mit diesem Themenbereich, insofern es erstmals gelang, die verschiedenen Aspekte und aktuellen Ansatze politikwissenschaftlicher Sprachanalyse zusam menzufUhren und in einen gemeinsamen DiskussionsprozeB einzutreten. Aligemein kann festgehalten werden, daB sich politikwissenschaftliche Sprach, !. nalyse mit der systematischen, methodisch kontrollierten Untersuchung von AuBerungen, Texten oder Dokumenten im politischen Kontext befaBt, mit dem Ziel, zu begriindeten Aussagen iiber die politischen Zusammenhange in der Gesellschaft zu kommen. Sie steht damit einer linguistischen Analyse politi schen Sprachgebrauchs ebenso nahe wie den sprachanalytischen Methoden em pirischer Sozialforschung, und kann in beiden Wissenschaftsbereichen methodi sche Anleihen fUr die eigenen Fragestellungen machen. Die unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkte des analytischen Vorgehens, wie etwa die fUr groBe Textmengen geeigneten Verfahren der Inhaltsanalyse einerseits, andererseits die eher auf die Untersuchung der angewandten sprachlichen Formen an konkreten Ein zelbeispielen gerichteten Verfahren in Philologie und Rhetorik, stellen glei chermaBen zuW. ssige wie fruchtbare Vorgehensweisen fUr politikwissenschaftli che Fragestellungen dar.
