This is the third volume by the acclaimed Hungarian collectorandphotographer team, identifying and explaining historic Soviet militaria from private collections. A wide range of uniforms, insignia awards, weapons, equipment, documents and ephemera from the Soviet Unions Great Patriotic War are illustrated, in more than 230 closeup color studies, supported by more than 60 fascinating monochrome photographs that have survived, unpublished, in private hands. This volume includes explanations of Soviet military symbolism from the early days of the Communist state, but concentrates on the period of key interest between 1943 and 1945, when Stalin consciously revived many of the visual traditions of the Tsarist years in order to harness Russian patriotism against the Nazi invaders.

As a history enthusiast, I really enjoyed flipping through 'Stalin's War: Soviet Uniforms 1941-45 in Colour Photographs.' The color photographs offer such vivid insights into the era. The detail in the uniforms is impressive! Perfect for anyone interested in WWII memorabilia or military history.

Interesting but Lacking Some Context
The book has stunning images of Soviet uniforms from 1941 to 1945, but I wish it included more context or explanations about the various uniforms. I bought it to complement my knowledge of military history, but I found myself wanting more detail on each piece. Still a good addition to my collection!

Came in Damaged Condition
Unfortunately, my copy of 'Stalin's War' arrived with some pages crinkled and a few photos smudged. I was really looking forward to dive into those color photographs. Customer service was responsive, but I expected better packaging. I'm a little disappointed.
