When does a philosophy become a conspiracy?Stealing the Future is the first book to tell the true and full story of Sam BankmanFried and his historic crimes. It chronicles the $11 billion FTX fraud with the detail and nuance of a financial fraud expert and cryptocurrency insider but unlike any book before it, it also traces the ideas that enabled the crime. Effective Altruism and related tendencies, such as longtermism and transhumanism, remain dangerously influential in todays Silicon Valley. Despite BankmanFrieds pose as a cuddly liberal philanthropist, they are now center stage in the global rise of the far right, and also lie at the heart of OpenAI, the tech darling that took FTXs place as the face of the future.

I enjoyed the initial chapters about Bankman-Fried's story, but I felt the book could've gone deeper into the cult-like following of tech ideologies. It’s a good read for a broad overview, just didn’t satisfy my craving for more in-depth analysis.

A Deep Dive into Tech and Ethics
This book offers a fascinating look at Sam Bankman-Fried and his rise in the crypto world. I found the exploration of technoutopia really engaging, especially how it relates to the fraud aspect. Definitely a must-read for anyone interested in finance and technology!

Not What I Expected
Honestly, I was really disappointed with this book. I expected a detailed account of the fraud, but it felt more like a sales pitch for tech utopia ideas. The writing style didn’t resonate with me either, so I couldn't get through it.
