This childrens book explores the innermost workings of some extraordinary buildings and machines. From helicopters to submarines, skyscrapers to coal mines, open up a fascinating world packed with unique and detailed cutaway drawings.Whether its a Spanish galleon or a medieval castle, each crosssection slice or exploded view reveals whats going on inside. See the people swarming inside the Empire State Building, the workers busy backstage at the opera house, and where the crew sleeps on a jumbo jet. Included also are two impressive foldouts showing an ocean liner and a steam train. There are lots of fun facts to be discovered, and curious details are highlighted and explained. Did you know one of the funnels of the Queen Mary liner was fake and used for storing deckchairs? And in almost every scene, theres the challenge to find a man on the toilet! With more than a million copies sold, Stephen Biestys awardwinning illustrated book is as fascinating today as it was when first published in 1992. Incredible CrossSections is the ultimate way to see how things work.

I loved the concept of this book, but it arrived with a bent cover and some pages were creased. Such a disappointment since I was excited to share it with my kids. I hope the replacement comes in better condition!

Great visuals, but a bit complex
I bought this for my 10-year-old, and while the cross sections are amazing, some of the explanations are a bit advanced for him. He enjoys flipping through the pages, but he often asks for help understanding the text. Still a cool book!

A must-have for young explorers!
My son is absolutely fascinated with this book! The illustrations are incredibly detailed and vibrant, making the cross sections come alive. He loves learning about how things work, and this has become one of his favorites. Highly engaging for kids!

Not what I expected
I thought the book would cover a lot more variety in terms of topics. While the illustrations are striking, I was hoping for a broader range of subjects. It’s nice, just not as diverse as I wanted. Might be better for specific interests.
