Der Stand der Kenntnisse, den deutsche Steuerfachleute ber die wichtigsten rechtlichen und wirtschaftlichen Probleme aus dem materiellen Steuerrecht der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika besitzen, ist verhltnismig hoch. Dagegen bestand bisher ein ausgesprochenes Informationsdefizit hinsichtlich der Gegebenheiten auf dem Sektor des Steuerberatungswesens der USA sowie hinsichtlich der akademischen Ausbildung, die dort auf eine steuerberatende Berufsttigkeit vor bereitet. Die Betriebswirtschaftliche Steuerlehre ist nach ihrem Selbst verstndnis auch Steuerberatungswissenschaft; sie mu sich deshalb auch um die Beschaffung und Auswertung von Sachwissen der letzt genannten Art kmmern. Aus diesem Grunde habe ich eine entsprechende Forschungsarbeit angeregt und dabei das Glck gehabt, einen jungen Wissenschaftler zu finden, der die damit zusammenhngenden Probleme mit Begeisterung, Ausdauer, Sorgfalt und Phantasie verfolgt hat. Die hier vorgelegte, von der Wirtschaftsund Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultt der Universitt zu Kln angenommene Dissertation von Guido Schulz ist eine empirischkomparative Untersuchung ber die in den beiden Staaten bestehenden Ausund Fortbildungsmglichkeiten fr die hauptberuflich im Steuerberatungswesen ttigen Personen. Sie enthlt aber nicht nur die im ZuSammenhang mit der Erfllung des Forschungs auftrages in den USA gewonnenen Informationen, sondern auch die Ergebnisse einer bei allen Fachvertretern der Betriebswirtschaftlichen SteuerIehre an den wissenschaftlichen Hochschulen der Bundesrepublik Deutschland durchgefhrten Befragung; sie unternimmt es schlielich erfolgreich, die Verhltnisse in einer aussagekrftigen Gegenberstellung zu vergleichen.
