Die Zahl der Adiposen hat trotz intensiver Bemiihungen von seiten der Arz teschaft nicht abgenommen. Gesellschaftliche und individuelle Bindungen haben dazu gefiihrt, daB die Bulimie als relativ neues Krankheitsbild hinzugekommen ist und die Rate der Anorexiepa tientinnen sich eher erhoht hat. Das Risiko eines Gichtpatienten, an einer oder mehrerer der gravierenden Folgeerscheinungen zu erkranken, ist nach wie vor groB, obgleich Medikamente und Ein halten der Diat sie mit Sicherheit verhindem konnen. Beim Diabe tes mellitus hat sich gezeigt, daB das 'didaktische Geriist' einer Klassifizierung und Typisierung zwar hilfreich, fiir das Verstandnis des Krankheitsverlaufs eine Stereotypisierung jedoch nicht aus reicht, weil die individuelle Vielfalt der Erscheinungsformen so groB ist, daB eine Individualisierung der Therapie erfolgen muB (Gries). Einen wesentlichen Beitrag zu dieser Art diagnostischen und therapeutischen Vorgehens kann der psychosomatische Ansatz bie ten, weil er das breite psychosoziale Umfeld des Patienten zu be riicksichtigen versucht.'
