Die vorliegende Arbeit behandelt das Problem der politischen Auslandsrisiken im Rahmen der strategischen Risikopolitik und der strategischen Planung von Unternehmen. Sie stellt die MeBverfahren dar und analysiert das risikopolitische Instrumentarium in seiner Bedeu tung fiir die strategische Unternehmensplanung. Hintergrund dieser Arbeit ist einerseits die These, daB die politischen Risiken ein Risiko sui generis in der Theorie der internationalen Unternehmung darstellen, andererseits die Ge genthese, daB politische Risiken nichts anderes sind als normale Kreditrisiken, die am be sten von den Kreditsachbearbeitern beurteilt wiirden und nicht von den volkswirtschaftli chen Abteilungen der Banken. Der Wert der Arbeit liegt vor allen Dingen darin, daB ein systematisches Verfahren zur Analyse und Bewiiltigung von politischen Auslandsrisiken entwickelt wird. Dieses Verfah ren umfaBt sechs Schritte. Dabei gehoren die ersten drei Schritte in den Bereich der Risiko information, der vierte Schritt in den Bereich der Risikobewertung und der fiinfte und sech ste Schritt zum risikopolitischen Instrument der Risikobewiiltigung. BeachtIieh ist auch die These, daB Entscheidungstheorie und Risikomanagement hinrei chende Bausteine zur theoretischen Fundierung des Verfahrens zur Beriicksiehtigung von politischen Risiken in der strategischen Planung liefern. Die Arbeit unterscheidet neben den Indikatoren zur Bestimmung des politischen Risikos aueh Indikatoren zur Bestimmung des Investitionsklimas. Hier werden neben dem bekann ten BERIInformationssystem aueh andere interessante in der Praxis angewandte Verfah ren untersueht und iibersiehtlich zusammengestellt. Firmen bzw. branchenspezifische Indi katoren, wie sie von Banken und multinational tiitigen Unternehmen verwandt werden, fin den ausfiihrliche Darstellung.
